Feedback

What people have told us

Feedback shared by participants after seminars, records setups, and facilitation sessions. Not selected for being glowing — selected for being representative.

"We came to the listening seminar a bit skeptically — our household is pretty functional and I wasn't sure we needed it. But the session actually surfaced a few habits we'd both developed without realising. The facilitator was relaxed and didn't push any agenda. We left with a few concrete things to try, not with homework or pressure."

"The records package was exactly what our household needed after three years of accumulating documents with no system whatsoever. James walked us through it at a pace that worked for us — he didn't assume we knew where to start. The digital version suits us better than paper. One small thing: it took a little longer than the estimated time to set up, but that's partly because we had a lot of backlog to sort through."

"We'd tried to have a particular conversation as a family three or four times over about a year and it kept going sideways. Having Nattaya there to hold the structure made the difference — she didn't say much, but her presence kept things on track. The written agenda she sent beforehand also helped because everyone arrived with the same expectations. It was a quiet two hours. Productive."

"I attended a seminar on expressing needs without it becoming confrontational — something I'd read about but hadn't put into practice well. The session was small (six of us), which meant there was actual discussion rather than a lecture. Took the written reflection home and used it a week later in a real situation. Not magic, but genuinely useful."

"I reached out about the facilitation session feeling a bit hesitant — I wasn't sure if it was the right tool for our situation. The team was straightforward about what the session would and wouldn't do, which helped. In the end it was the right call. Our household has a long way to go but we came out of that two hours with at least a shared understanding of what each person's main concern actually was. That's not nothing."

"We got the records package after a stressful episode where we couldn't find a document we needed quickly. The system James set up is simple enough that both of us use it consistently — and that's the key thing, really. Previous attempts at organising had always ended up as one person's system that the other person didn't follow. This one has actually stuck for four months now."

In More Detail

Three household stories

These are composites based on common patterns across the families we've worked with. Names and details are illustrative.

Challenge

An expat couple who had different communication styles — one preferred to discuss things immediately, the other needed time to think first. Most disagreements escalated before either person was ready.

What They Did

Attended a Relationship Skills Seminar together, then booked a facilitation session a month later to work through one specific recurring issue. Total time with Familara: one seminar afternoon and a two-hour session.

What Changed

They established a simple signal between them — one borrowed from the seminar — that bought time when needed. Still used six months later. The facilitation session surfaced one misunderstanding they'd both been carrying for over a year.

"We didn't fix everything. But we understood each other's starting point better after that session than we had in three years of living together."

Challenge

A family of four (two working adults, two adult children) with years of accumulated documents spread across email, physical folders, phone apps, and someone's desktop. Nobody knew where the lease was.

What They Did

Bought the records package. Chose the digital option. Walkthrough took about two hours because their situation had more categories than most. The follow-up email was used to ask about one category they'd missed.

What Changed

All four family members now use the same folder structure. The lease (and six other key documents) were located and filed within the first week. An emergency contact list was created for the first time.

"The main value was having a structure that someone else designed so we didn't have to argue about what the structure should be."

Challenge

Three adult siblings needed to have a practical conversation about their elderly parent's living arrangements. Every time they'd tried before, the conversation had turned into a revisiting of old grievances.

What They Did

Booked a single facilitation session. The facilitator worked with one sibling beforehand to build an agenda around the practical question only — not the history. The others agreed to the agenda before they arrived.

What Changed

The siblings left with a shared list of next steps — divided by who would handle what. No resolution on the older issues, but the practical question was handled in under two hours for the first time.

"Having someone else in the room whose only job was to keep us on topic changed everything about how that conversation went."
